Valenzuela Law Firm: In The News
Our law firm’s commitment to handling the most serious, high-stakes matters means that our cases, and our team, are frequently in the news. Here are some highlights.
Attorney Felix Valenzuela and our team were featured on season 10, episode 7 of the hit A&E true crime documentary series Accused: Guilty or Innocent? Watch the episode.
El Paso Walmart Shooting Case
Founding attorney Felix Valenzuela served as a member of the defense team in the El Paso Walmart shooting case, which spanned over half a decade and involved more than 100 federal charges and state charges of capital murder. The case received a great deal of media attention. Some articles include:

Homicide Cases
Over the years, our team has defended many Texans against homicide charges. Our record includes instances of not guilty verdicts, charges being dismissed or reduced, or penalties being reduced.
One noteworthy homicide case that received a great deal of media attention was the Daniel Villegas case. In a saga that lasted more than 25 years, attorney Felix Valenzuela served on the defense team for Mr. Villegas’s third trial for capital murder, ultimately winning a not-guilty verdict and going on to file a lawsuit against the city for the many years that Mr. Villegas spent behind bars after his initial conviction in 1995 before that was overturned in 2013. Here are some articles covering the case:

- Federal judge rules Villegas’ lawsuit against the City of El Paso can go to trial, KVIA
Another big murder case we handled was the Martel Brothers case. Attorney Felix Valenzuela represented Randy Martel, one of two brothers accused of murder. The case went to trial and the defense’s argument was so strong that, according to one article, the jury took only two minutes to unanimously decide on the not-guilty verdict. Here are some articles about the case:
- Martel brothers found not guilty of murder, KTSM
- Brothers found not guilty of murder in 2020 fatal shooting in East El Paso, El Paso Times
